Collision between Mts Nazar and push boat Alja

7 MARCH 2025 | #PRESSRELEASE

On February 27, a collision occurred between the Mts Nazar of AMS Barging and the push boat Alja. This happened on the Amsterdam-Rhine Canal near the Nesciobrug. We regret this incident and are relieved that no injuries were reported. Both vessels were able to continue their journey safely.

We are aware that footage of the incident is circulating online and believe it presents a one-sided view of the collision. Our safety department has conducted a thorough investigation. It has been established that various circumstances on both the Mts Nazar and the push boat Alja contributed to the collision. Therefore, we do not consider this a one-sided fault.

At AMS Barging, safety is paramount. That is why we are sharing our full investigation report and findings with the Platform Zero Incidents (PZI), contributing to a safer inland shipping sector.
